First Couple Of Rounds
Bought it about 5 weeks ago. Have only played 3-4 rounds with it. Still trying to get it to pick up all strokes. Hasn’t always gotten driver/3 wood strikes. When it does it’s great. Still getting use to it. I purchased sensors for wedges/putter. Haven’t used them yet.

I have tried to get the software upgraded however there is vitually no support from Garmin so now the yardage is basically useless

It’s a convenient tool but the yardage is off by 12/15 yards every shot I tried to get updated -you sent me a cord to attach to my Mac book -but the software won’t take

Good Product.
I purchased the Garmin S42 approximately a month or so ago. On arrival and inspection, the device was terrific. My only cosmetic complaint is the band. Band seemed a little narrow and cheap feeling for such a, in my opinion, quality product. Changed the band, which was very easy by the way, and all is well. I have only had the opportunity to really give it a test run on the golf course once so far. The distances were right on the mark and watch is fairly comfortable during play, I’m still learning how to use some of the other features, but so far so good. Battery charges very quickly and holds charge very well. I practiced for quite awhile, played 18 holes and wore off and on over the next few days and still had plenty of juice.

Unreliable
I’ve had this device for over a year now. It works about 50% of the time. Screen blanks out, forever to find courses, if at all, just very un-reliable. I’m now to the point I don’t even take it to play and have gone back an app on my phone. Too bad, it’s great when it works. 2 stars for the effort…

Good Features
I am still struggling with some of the features. The club used is sometimes difficult because it is easy to make a mistake with fingers. The final pitch/chip does not show up.

Excellent Multi Sports Watch
I have used my watch 2 or 3 times this year. It is easy to set up and read. Keeping score is a little difficult with sweaty hands. The battery lasts for 2 days of use, but I like the ability to use in multiple sports.

Disappointing
This is the second Garmin S42 I have had in 3-4 years. Garmin sent me this one to replace one that suddenly stopped being able to connect to GPS. I have had my current watch for about a year and it has been showing a low memory warning and sometimes not uploading my rounds to my Garmin app. Garmin support tried to assist, but after trying all their solutions, I am still getting this warning on my display. Today, mid round, my watch lost the hole layout display and only gave me simple yardage with no front/middle/back yardage to the hole. After the front 9, I tried restarting the watch and it then would not find any courses, displaying a “cannot find courses” error message. I followed the Garmin support instructions to reinstall courses by connecting the watch to Garmin Connect on my PC. It took 4 attempts for this to actually work. I am sceptical that it will work on my next round. I am sure I will still get the low memory warning or will not even load courses. I would be hesitant to purchase another Garmin Golf watch and am considerIng either the Bushnell iON watch or the BUSHNELL Phantom 3 Slope GPS handheld. I don’t need the fashionability or the lifestyle features that Garmin is known for but just need a reliable product on the course.

Not Great
When it works it is great. Unfortunately it now brings back scores from prior rounds, sometimes 2 or 3 times during the current round. Have done a hard reset, deleted Garmin golf/connect and reinstalled and the problem persists. Only way to resolve is to turn off the Bluetooth connection to my phone.

Works Great
I know the yardages are not exact, but this gives a pretty good idea. I’ve had this S42 for a couple of years now with no issues.

Loving My Approach S42
I love it! I was a bit apprehensive when I was told the crystal on my approach s 40 couldn’t be repaired. So I ordered the s 42 and am loving the bigger print easier to read.

S42
Takes forever to upload the course. Sometimes I'm 3 holes in before the maps update. I've tried updating maps before I leave and still takes forever to update to the course I'm on.
