The New 2026 G82, A Great Device From Garmin!

I have been a long time owner of Garmin handheld rangefinder products. I have owned two Garmin G8 rangefinders. I recently thought that I had lost my G8 and went to the Garmin website to see what handhelds they might have. I was happy to find out that they had released the G82 handheld in January. I reviewed it and immediately purchased it because of my familiarity with the quality that Garmin products possess and the solid software that they use in their devices. I have used my new G82 once or twice and I am impressed with the resolution of the graphics and the ease of use to get point to point range from where I am standing to sand traps, trees and to other areas on the course. It has been a worthwhile investment in the latest technology that Garmin has for the golf world. I am looking forward to using the G82 during practice session hitting my woods, hybrids, and irons. More importantly I am looking forward to using the G82 during practice putting sessions. I like the size of the G82, but it is quite heavy or some people might say bulky. It has a magnetic back so you can attach it to your cart, but knowing that the golf course is not smooth but quite bumpy, I would not trust attaching it to the cart because it will probably drop off and then if not paying attention you will loose a very pricey device. Other than that, I love the G82 and believe that Garmin has really moved forward

Great Product

I’ve owned several items from Garmin and everyone of them is quality. The features of the G82 are outstanding for the price of the item!

Had To Upgrade

I purchased this a few weeks ago replacing the R10. This works more efficiently for me as far my practice rounds with putting and the driving range. Even keeps things in order while out on the course keeping track of the scores for everyone.

Great Features For A High Hi (26) Golfer.

I was a little apprehensive when I bought this but it has turned out to be a game changer for me. The bag mapping feature was priceless to me because you get a true distance from each club instead of guessing how far you can hit.

Great Gps And Good Swing Tools

Accurate as evaluated with course markers and rangefinder with rare deviation by more than a few yards. Well within my game. Viewable even in bright sun and does not overheat and go dim like an iPhone. Using indoors along with trackman device shows pretty good agreement +/- 10 yards on distance with similar spin and smash factor. No side spin numbers available but clubhead and ball speeds also relatively close. Have not tried putting assistance.it is only mildly further off if using a rubber indoor golf ball. Overall, a great gps with a nice tool for working on clubhead speed changes with changes in swing mechanics.

Great Gps Device & Great Launch Monitor (Updated)

Updated Review - I switched from my Garmin golf watch & Z82 rangefinder to the G82 & Z30 rangefinder. There were changes with the automatic score tracking with my CT10 club sensors but overall I like having the bigger screen for the on course use. The calculated/recommended distance with adjustments for elevation, temperature & wind tend to be very helpful. I also like the launch monitor feature for the driving range. Having the instant stats while I practice has helped improve my golf practice sessions. The issue with the launch monitor not giving correct swing speed & distance due to a big back swing has been fixed after the software update. I’m very happy with the G82. My last comment is battery life. It’s less than what’s advertised in the product description. When in GPS mode, I can only get about 10 hours of battery life (2 18 hole rounds) even with dimming the display to extend battery life.

Awesome Reliability

I upgraded my old garmin hand help gos to the G82 and live it!! The bigger screen and ease of functionality is really very user friendly. I live the slope and wind readings, I also added the member ship for the green slopes-HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!! I haven’t used the launch feature yet but I didn’t buy it for that, I already know my club distances. The device is a little pricey (highest on the market) and should offer a free 2 year membership with purchase but in my book the green slopes are so accurate, worth it. Would like to see a push cart holder for the G82, it’s an odd shape and doesn’t fit with most phone holders so I use a magnetic holder.

Decent Gps But Missing A Few Features

Good golf GPS. The radar has some accuracy issues. Tried it on the range using my range finder (Z82). Off about 15 yards short on a 155 yard shot. I’m going to try it against my new R10 which seems more accurate according to how far I usually hit good shots. The unit is a bit heavy. Wish that it had better screen brightness. Missing a few things like compatibility with find my gear which I am told is coming and the ability to pair with the Z82 range finder which is TBD at this point

Good Device

Good device but for the price the value wasn’t there for me.

Great Gps Device & Almost Great Launch Monitor

I switched from my Garmin golf watch & Z82 rangefinder to the G82 & Z30 rangefinder. I would give this device 5 stars if the launch monitor works well will all my clubs. I have a big backswing with my driver. If I take a big backswing with my driver, it confuses the G82. When that happens, the clubhead speed and ball speed numbers are garbage. I also have the Approach R10. It doesn’t have an issue with my big driver backswing.

Features Don't Work As Advertised

Very clunky syncing of data across Garmin Golf/Connect app. Even after using bag mapping, it doesn't reflect club distances during round. The virtual caddie only offers default club distances that are wildly inaccurate and doesn't allow customization outside of the given range of clubs. What's the point of a virtual caddie if it doesn't use accurate club data? If you open the Garmin Golf app during the round it isn't synced with the device and doesn't even recognize a round being played until after the round is complete. I tried to initiate a return and they refused to accept the return.

So Sorry about G82

Not So Great!

Sadly I was very disappointed with the Garmin G82. I own other Garmin products that have indeed measured up to the Garmin reputation and namen, not the G82. I primarily purchased the G82 for the Launch Monitor which did not convey accurate yardages over 100+ yards. Then once I found that out I found my self toting not on iPhone by an Added Brick of a cell phone called a G82?!? I then discovered I was there playing golf NOT JUGGLING BETWEEN A G82 AND AN iPHONE!! Then I realized the many Golf Apps available for the iPhone satisfied my needs for Launch Monitoriing, GPS, Scoring in different ways, Stats keeping and Strokes Gained without this Expensive Less Accurate G82.

Great Features

I bought this a month ago and I’m happy how easy to use it. It’s pretty accurate. I hope that there’s a protective cover.
