Great If Set Up Properly

I have had mine for 4 months now and put a lot of swings on it and can't be happier. The numbers are pretty close to the trackman if you take the time to set it up appropriately. Garmin golf app is simple to use and home tee hero is a nice basic way to play lots of courses.

Please Know What You Are Buying

Let me say this FIRST...if you understand what you are actually buying, you just might be satisfied with this unit. BUT is does have serious issues…TRUST ME…I have spent MONTHS going back and forth with Garmin Customer Service (ABSOLUTE HORRID) about the issues…MONTHS…more on this in the review. For what it is, it’s ok…even fun. So, here is the quick version. (I have the simulator in my Shop…HEAVILY lighted) Pros: 1. Cheap monthly Subscription. 2. You can pretty much play any course in the US…that’s pretty cool. 3. “Can” be really fun! Cons: (I will try to keep this short) 1. It is NOT accurate! In NO WAY is it accurate. Not even with the $80/dozen RCT golf balls. Short irons will be around 10 yards short…Driver can be up to 30 yards short. This is the ONLY consistent thing about the unit. 2. Customer Service: Absolutely the worst I have EVER had to deal with. Under no circumstance will the problem be their unit. As I describe my experience, I will be MORE than happy to forward the emails I have received from them. But, the cliff note version: I just received my 5th email (5th list of “things to try”…I have MANY more other emails)…keep in mind that I have spent well over $1,000 buying and doing EVERYTHING they told me to do in the first FOUR emails…NOTHING!!! Now get this…in the 5th email are 10…TEN…yes, you heard that right…TEN more things they want me to do, INCLUDING 360 pictures because “LIGHTS” can interfere with the radar. Yep, if you have lights in your indoor setup, they can interfere with the radar (also includes fans, heaters, appliances…pretty anything they can blame other than their unit). • THEN…they want me to take the unit to another business and hit golf balls there to see if I get the same results. You can’t have ANYTHING “shiny” (I spent all kinds of money blacking out stuff in the shop). They want you to take detail notes on disparity between all your clubs…and what shots you are hitting…and then asks you what base line you are basing everything off of. Here’s a quote from one of the emails…”Some indoor setups may require you to cover the floor, walls and ceiling…so, you may have to cover your entire room or shop. This goes on and on and on… • To make things worse, and PROOF that they are looking for reasons to deny warranty, here is another quote from the last email of “things to try”…and I quote: ”SINCE YOU ARE IN AN OUTDOOR SITUATION…”. As stated before, my simulator in INDOOR! It has been indoor since 1 of 98 emails back and forth with Garmin. PROOF they are not trying to troubleshoot their unit, they are hoping I give up. And, I am. So…if you want the unit for “GAME PLAY ONLY”, you should get it. If you are trying to improve your game…NOT A CHANCE!!! And Garmin DOES NOT CARE!!! 1 Star for Customer Service and golf improvement 3 Star if you want to play around when you are bored.

Don't Buy This Product

I purchased the Garmin Approach R10 based on it's affordability and customer reviews. It worked well enough at first. Unfortunately, my launch monitor no longer works well. In the beginning, the monitor would recognize most shots, but distance accuracy was mediocre. That was good enough for a simulation system in the garage. However, now, it rarely recognizes shots. It is presently unusable. Buyers should know that Garmin customer service is anemic. The website does not provide a phone number and does not address the challenges with my launch monitor. There are more reliable launch monitors on the market.

You Get What You Pay For

Decent for the price and if it works in your space it would be very effective. I have had device for about 3 weeks with an indoor net. Have watched and read many setup guides and diagnostics. Yardages still way off. Will likely bite the bullet and pay up for a higher quality device.

Great Product Maybe!

I got the r10 mid Nov 2023. My first impression was this is a great tool for practicing control and consistency in the off season, & that’s exactly what I experienced for the first 2 weeks of having this. After 2 weeks & about 2500 shots, the device stopped recording shots and providing no data. It’s shows green and ready, red throughout the swing, then no data after the hit. I can reset the device & it will read one shot, then nothing until it’s reset for every single shot. I’ve reached out to Garmin directly multiple times & they keep sending me to the general help page of their website & software links that don’t exist. I have had no actual help from anyone & I’m stuck with a $600 floor ornament that is frustrating to attempt to use at all.
