PING G440 Irons

About This Item

The G440 iron is a distance-driven design that best fits golfers in need of game-improvement technology who prefer the influence of a players-style shape. Increased ball speed comes from the thinner face and the low/back CG location – resulting in higher- launching, longer-carrying shots with stopping power. The shallow face and head size present an eye-catching design, complemented by chrome finishes on the back and inside the PurFlex cavity badge that add to its premium appearance. The cavity-back design ensures forgiveness and consistency to find more greens with a pleasing feel and sound. Longer-length 4, 5 and 6 irons help launch shots higher and provide more consistent gaps. The four-wedge system improves gapping and simplifies wedge choices.

FEATURES

  • Thinner, Shallower Face - The shallower face allows us to make it 9% thinner than its predecessor for increased ball speed across the face and provides a more player-preferred look at address.
  • Low CG System, High MOI - The face height and thickness reduction save approximately 4g per iron, which is placed lower and farther back in the head, lowering the CG for more ball speed and ensuring forgiveness.
  • PurFlex Cavity Badge - The 4-piece molded PurFlex cavity badge is more flexible than previous designs, expanding and contracting to support the thinner face while contributing to more ball speed and enhancing feel and sound.
  • Premium Cosmetics - A chrome finish on the back of the head and inside the cavity badge provide an eye-catching, high-quality premium appearance.
  • Players-Inspired Look - The shallower face height, shorter blade length and thin top line have the look of a players iron but deliver the forgiveness and consistency of a game-improvement design.
  • Improved Set Gapping - Adding 1/8" in length to the 4, 5 and 6 irons helps golfers create more ball speed to launch their long irons higher, creating more consistent distance gaps.
  • Re-configured Wedge Options - Reducing the number of wedges from five to four (PW, UW, 52°, 56°) and modifying their lofts improves gapping and simplifies wedge choice. The 56° is inspired by the iconic EYE2 sand wedge with its bounce profile, sole design, and hosel shaped to help golfers of all skill levels escape bunkers.
  • New AWT 3.0 Shaft (Regular, Stiff, X-Stiff) - The nonlinear weight progression of the AWT 3.0 produces lighter long-iron shafts for more speed and max height. The short-iron shafts progress heavier to give golfers more control and precision.

3 Months Review - Superb!

These G440 feel great to swing and hit the ball with.   My shots are more consistent and longer than ever before.  It took about a month to adjust to them, after that they are playing well and I am so pleased that I decided to purchase them after a very good fitting experience with a PING rep.  Well with the money spent and so far they are looking like a very long term commitment is justified.

The Irons I Have Always Hoped For

I am a 76 year old higher handicapper. I struggled with irons to the point where anything above a 7 iron was irrelevant. I was fitted (and I can’t stress how important a fitting is) with G440’s. The irons are easy to hit and basically hit 20 yards farther than my previous forged set. While I am in no position to win a club championship, I can honestly say my rounds are far more enjoyable with these irons. I highly recommend these clubs.

Ping Guy For A Long Time - Happy I Got The G440's

I am happy that I purchased the Ping G440's . I think that they are a nice step up from my Ping eye 2 plus irons that I purchased back in '92. Although the lofts are stronger than my old irons by a good club to almost 2 clubs, I am hitting them pretty much the same distances. My old irons that had graphite shafts in regular flex. After a fitting session, my new irons are steel shafts in regular flex. I am noticing better results with my 5 iron. I have retained my old sand and lob wedge to the set. I am looking forward to playing these new irons.

Should’ve Brought The 430’s

I bounced around to several golf stores late last year looking to upgrade from my TM Sim2’s. Fell in love with the G430 and consistent feel and ball flight even on mis-hits with myself being a higher handicapper. Internet research was my mistake when I read Ping was releasing a new game improvement iron, so I purchased the G440’s. So far the mis-hits aren’t as forgiving and I’ve lost distance from my previous TM irons. Should have went with my first instinct and purchased the 430’s.

Great Improvement

This was the first real set of irons I have owned other than big box store specials. I noticed great improvement in accuracy and distance. I look forward to getting my time with the club and fine tuning with the adjustments available.
