Quality Control Is Suspect

Quality control is terrible. I really didn't want to write this review. Thought something was off and expected that I needed to change lie adjust due to height or the way I deliver a club. Here is how it went, from 4 iron down to A wedge not one cline was at the stated spec from the website. Every single lie was off for specs. Every single loft was off for specs, some as weak at 4 degrees. 9 iron playing as a pitching wedge. Some club lie off by 2-4 degrees. Charging premium prices with very low quality control. I’ve always played TaylorMade but ……. What is this

P790 Review: Clean Look, Big Performance

The TaylorMade P790 irons are a really strong option for golfers who want a clean, classic look but still need some help with distance and forgiveness. They feel solid, look great behind the ball, and have plenty of pop without looking oversized or bulky. To me, the biggest selling point is that they give you a players-style iron without punishing you like a true blade. That said, they are not perfect. The face can get a little jumpy at times, so if you are a golfer who values exact yardage control over everything else, that is something to pay attention to. But for most players, especially mid-handicaps wanting a blend of forgiveness, distance, and better looks, the P790 is one of the best iron sets out there.

These are excellent clubs that provide extra distance, yet are forgiving, consistent and feel great. A definite improvement over prior generations.

Upgraded From ‘23 Models

I have the 2023 models with Steel fiber shafts. On a whim, hit the 2025 with Nippon Modus at a local shop (thinking it was just for fun). Yardages were similar, but I found the 2025 significantly more forgiving…and fell in love with the Nippon feel. So yeah, I ordered 5-PW rather than reshaft the 2023 models. Good to have spares I suppose. The combo of Nippon Modus 105 with P790 was a no brainer looking at the data and the feel…super smooth and crisp. Significantly better ball flight, spin, and forgiveness. For me, anyway.
