Works Great Getting Balls Laying On Hard Surfaces, Not So Well On Soft

This ball retriever works great with balls that are laying on hard ground. However, it doesn't work well with balls on either soft mud or soft leaves. I am unable to press down hard enough to get the balls to grip to the gripper head. In this case, I need to scoop the ball up from the bottom. The only other issue I have encountered is when I try to retrieve a ball from the top, but the ball is still loose so I need to rotate it so the gripper head is underneath. The head is hard to get to rotate while extended. I am glad I got the maximum 18 foot length as it is able to reach balls that shorter grabbers can't.
