PING S159 Eye2 Wedge

About This Item

FEATURES

  • With the addition of two grinds and new loft offerings, the s159 wedges represent PING's most versatile wedge line to date, significantly advancing wedge performance and expanding fitting options. Extensive testing with PING tour players helped create wedges that will appeal to golfers of all abilities.
  • The 8620 carbon steel head is cast to an eye-pleasing shape with a more-square lead edge, especially beneficial on full shots. An elastomer insert behind the face contributes to the soft and responsive feel.
  • At address, the compact head features an improved hosel transition with constant offset that blends seamlessly into the new Blueprint S and T irons.
  • Wheel-cut grooves are precision-milled to varying dimensions, depending on loft. The 54-to-62-degree options feature more tightly spaced MicroMax grooves. The 46-to-52-degree wedges have a 20-degree sidewall, milled to maximize groove volume for greater control on full shots.
  • In combination with the friction-adding face blast, the s159 wedges deliver the launch and spin control to play score-lowering wedge shots from every distance.

GRIND OPTIONS

  • New “H” or Half-Moon Grind: A shot-saving option for players with steeper angles of attack who like to manipulate the handle and play with versatility. It performs best in softer conditions. Available in 54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
  • New “B” Grind: For a shallow angle of attack and neutral face delivery. Low-bounce design sits low on the turf on square face shots, providing forgiveness via the sole width to deliver score-lowering performance in firmer conditions. Available in 58°, 60°
  • “T” Grind: PING's most versatile option allows players to manipulate the face for shot-making precision around the greens. Ideal for medium to firm turf conditions. PING has added a 62-degree at the request of tour pros for more versatility. Available in 58°, 60°, 62° (new)
  • “W” Grind: Maximum forgiveness through the turf. Best fits a steep angle of attack who might also have a lot of handle lean and a player who prefers the look of a specialty wedge but relies on a little more forgiveness in their scoring clubs. Available in 54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
  • “E” or Eye2 Grind: Continues to be the ultimate bunker club, carrying on a 40-year tradition of helping golfers get up and down from the sand. It plays with relatively low bounce on square or slightly open face shots. Available in 54°, 56°, 58°, 60°
  • “S” Grind: Fits a wide variety of conditions and techniques. Designed with ample bounce in the mid-section to play full shots and provides greenside versatility due to heel/trail edge relief. New 48-degree option helps in gapping. Available in 46°, 48° (new), 50°, 52°, 54°, 56°, 58°, 60°

Odd Looking But High Performing

It was time to replace my Ping Glide wedges and bought this in 54 degrees for sand and the C grind in 58 degrees for the fairway. Well, the Eye2 certainly does glide through the sand well even without opening the face, but it's equally good from just about every lie. So good, in fact, that I've barely used my 58 at all. I'm a 10 handicapper whose major weakness is around the greens. This club just gives me so much confidence from 50 yards in. The sound and feel on well struck full shots are perfect, as is the spin. Don't let the goofy looks put you off. Give it a try.

Excellent E Grind

Bought a S159 wedge with e-grind sole for getting out of sand. However, found that this club is great for chipping from thick wiry southern bermuda grass. Club head glides though the thick grass.

Ping Wedges Are So Good, I Upgraded My Glide 4's

Only have Ping in my bag. Had the Glide 4.0's in 52, 56 and 60. When I went from the i525's to the i530's I needed stronger wedges, hence. the 50, 54 and 58 in the s159 now. I couldn't part with the 4's so now I have every wedge I need, plus I just ordered the 62 in T grind! Thank you Ping for providing the best clubs out there!

The Spin Is So Good!

Went looking for irons and ended up with Pindriver, irons and s159 wedges. Extremely happy with all of the clubs but the wedges are an absolute standout! When I was fitted for these wedges I was getting 2000 RPM more spin. My previous wedges were used but even new never had the stopping power these do! I’m an 11 hcp and clearly I miss hit shots sometimes but these wedges always stop very quick. I chip a lot and I’ve never seen anything stop out of the rough like these do! So many times I hit a shot thinking “ oh that’s gonna roll out another 20’ only to see it stop within 10’. The feel/sound of these when hitting a ball is so nice. Sometimes you can hardly tell you hit a ball they are that good. Plus the customizable grinds is awesome! My 58 is a different grind so I can hit the high soft shots that drop and stop. These wedges are definitely helping lower my scores. Can’t see me straying from Ping clubs after this experience.

S159 Vs T24

I got fitted for Munzo T24 and trued the shaft. T24 are the most inconsistent wedges I have ever hit. I then tried Ping S159 56 S. It's a dart thrower with a full swing and very versatile around the green. I will be purchasing different lofts to replace the T24s.
