Learn More About Apex 21 Irons & Hybrids

For the first time since 2019, Callaway has released a new line of its best-selling Apex irons and hybrids. It was worth the wait. Callaway Apex 21 irons and hybrids are loaded with new technology to help players attack the pin with total confidence.

Learn more about these impressive new sticks, now available at Golf Galaxy.

Callaway Apex 21 Irons: What’s New?

Callaway revolutionized club design in 2019 when the company used Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) to craft the face of Epic Flash metalwoods. Callaway’s super computer churned out thousands of face iterations, each one better than the last, and ultimately arrived at a face optimized for incredible ball speed. The results were so impressive that Callaway continues to integrate A.I. into its new club designs.

That includes Apex 21, which is the first line of Apex irons created using A.I. Specifically, the Callaway engineers used A.I. to develop the Flash Face Cup, a unique face architecture that promotes maximum ball speed and robust spin. For you, that means more distance and greater accuracy.

Apex 21 irons also feature Callaway’s Tungsten Energy Core for the first time. With five times the Tungsten steel of the 2019 models, Apex 21 irons offer a much more precise center of gravity to provide superior launch and incredible forgiveness on off-center hits.

There are some elements of the Apex that remain the same, namely the 100% forged body that offers remarkable feel on every shot. Callaway’s patented urethane microspheres are back as well to help reduce unwanted vibration without sacrificing speed.

Types of Apex 21 Irons: Standard vs. Pro vs. DCB

Callaway has released three variations of Apex 21 irons to help players of all abilities find the best fit for their game.

  • The standard Apex 21 can be categorized as a players distance iron that’s ideal for golfers in the low-to-mid handicap range. It features a standard offset with a moderate sole width.
  • The Apex 21 Pro is designed for highly skilled players who want maximum control over their ball flight. Apex Pro irons offer the Tour-inspired look better players prefer, namely a thin topline and narrow sole.
  • The Apex 21 DCB, which stands for “deep cavity back,” is a game-improvement iron designed to help mid-to-high handicappers play better golf. The DCB offers forgiving features including a longer blade and wider sole.

Introducing Callaway Apex 21 Hybrids

Callaway’s Apex hybrids have also received significant upgrades for 2021. The key update is the evolution of Callaway’s Jailbreak Technology. First introduced in Callaway’s 2017 Epic line, Jailbreak Technology refers to two vertical bars located behind the clubface that stiffen the crown and sole at impact to increase ball speed. With new insights from A.I., Callaway enhanced Jailbreak to provide greater stiffness on the sole of the club. These new “Velocity Blades” give players greater forgiveness, especially low on the face where many golfers tend to mis-hit their hybrids.

Apex 21 hybrids are available in two variations:

  • The standard Apex hybrid is ideal for players who could use a little extra help generating consistent ball flight. These hybrids are loaded with Tungsten to create the precise center of gravity needed for high launch and maximum forgiveness.
  • The Apex Pro hybrid is designed for skilled players seeking maximum workability. Tour-inspired elements like the compact head and fixed hosel will appeal to the eyes of low handicappers at address.
