Approach G6 Overview

Perfectly Sized

G6 introduces a sleek, slim design for better playability. Still featuring a glove-friendly, colorful touchscreen, Approach G6 adds 2 buttons for instant access to Green View, Shot Measure and Digital Scorecard. Plus, it's waterproof and tough enough to take the rigors of the game.

Get More Courses

The Approach G6 rewrites the rules for golf course availability. The G6 boasts more than 26,500 preloaded courses from around the globe with FREE course updates available so no extra fees or subscriptions.

Powered for Play

The internal rechargeable battery lasts up to 15 hours so you can play an entire weekend on a single charge.

More Scorecard Options

Approach G6 doubles as a digital scorecard for your foursome with scoring options for Stroke Play, Stableford, Skins and Match Play with adjustable handicaps.

See Your Target

Colorful layup arcs at 100, 150, 200 and (when applicable) 250 yards let you know exactly how far you need to hit it when laying up. Touch Targeting lets you touch any point on the sunlight-readable display, and Approach shows the precise distance to that exact spot – fairway, hazard, landing area, or the front, middle and back of the green.

Track Your Stats

The enhanced stat tracking feature keeps track of fairways hit, greens in regulation and putts per round. Not only can you check your stats during the round, but you also can download and print them from your home computer.

Get on the Green

Approach helps you zero in on the pin with Green View. Just tap the flag on the map to zoom in on the green - then you can drag the flag to position it where you see it, giving you more accurate yardage.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This device does not meet expectations. Touchscreen is useless. Display is hard to see in sunlight. Basic golf GPS. Nothing special here. Relatively easy to get started but some quirky functionality makes it frustrating to use. The touchscreen is difficult to use and in fact I gave up trying. The cursor "never" goes where I want it to go. The screen hard to see in sunlight. When playing at courses with 3 nine hole courses you can't get scores for 18 holes. When you complete the 1st nine you must exit the round to start the next 9 holes and when you do you lose the scores for the 1st 9 holes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice LITTLE gps LITTLE is the key word with this one. Easily fits in your pocket or they sell some accessories to attach to bag. On a bright day the display is easy to read and the touchscreen works great even with a glove on. Shows lay up yardage and a nice feature is you can move the pin on the green close to it's actual location. I don't use the scoring feature so can't comment on that. Works great as you would expect a Garmin to do and I can get 4 rounds (14 hours) out of the battery before charging.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A bit small, but easy to read. I bought the Garmin Approach G6 after my sky caddie died. I have used it several times and finding more neat features everytime I use it. Love to see how long my round took and the distance I walked. All the numbers that are displayed are sometimes confusing, but then I just check yardage to green. Changing the pin position is sometimes tricky and the fact that there is no way to keep track of putts are the only cons. Pros no downloading courses or membership fees.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple to use and great display of holes. I am very pleased with my purchase of the Garmin G6 as I have wanted a yardage indicator for some time but was reluctant to spend the money. After reading other reviews of the G6 I made the plunge and was not disappointed. I am most pleased at the ease of operation and readability of the G6. I like the full display of each hole's features and it is easy to see even in bright sunlight. The battery lasts several rounds before recharging which suits my level of usage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly Recommend I used my G6 for the first time yesterday. It worked great. The display is bright and easy to read even in bright sun. The scoring feature is easy to use. The yardages were spot on. It took a little longer than I thought it should to acquire the satellites. Could have been related to where I played. I especially liked the fact that it knew where I was playing so I didn't have to enter the course. I highly recommend it to any one

Rated 4 out of 5 by from trading in sg2.5 Moving from a SkyCaddie SG2.5. Nice not having to mess with any software (that usually didn't work). Battery life is good, can easily get 2 18 hole rounds in with room to spare. Unit is easy to use. Only negative is if anything, the unit is too small. Hole views and yardage are easy to see but its easy to drop it, falls thru cup holders in carts, etc. Still a great unit with very accurate yardages. Highly recommended! !

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So far, so good. Recently purchased the G6, with the intent of eliminating the annual renewal fees charged by skycaddie. I like the Garmin product and for the most part it is "as advertised". I have had a few occasions when the yardage was 5-10 yards high or low, but not very often. Had the same issues with the other brand. All in all, it seems to be a good product. Bummer that I didn't wait a week and get the rebate.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's a great tool, easy to use! I've used the Approach G6, 3 times now and have found it very accurate in its distances. This is mainly what I bought it for, but have found out other features are great too, like the club selection feature it's fun to see what club you can choose to hit or not. It has helped me greatly.
