Iron performance can best be measured, not only by the quality of shots produced by well-executed swings, but also by the quality of shots when less-than-ideal contact is made with the ball. From an engineering standpoint, the key to maximizing shot quality on off-center hits is weight distribution. Club designers learned that by placing more weight around the perimeter of the club they could reduce the amount that the club twists on off-center hits. When the clubhead is more stable, off-center hits still fly relatively straight and far. However, perimeter-weighted irons had an intrinsic drawback. In order to redistribute enough weight to exact a measurable performance advantage, the clubhead shape had to change. The typically larger heads of these irons with their wider soles and thicker toplines were visually unappealing to many serious golfers whose concept of an ideal iron is represented by the compact profile and sharper lines of a traditional forged blade iron.
The rules changed when Titleist introduced Advance Performance (AP) technology. By successfully integrating new materials in a new dual cavity, multi-component construction, Titleist not only launched an iron that delivered modern performance and playability, but one that would also satisfy the sensibilities of even the most ardent iron traditionalist.
"The original AP irons changed the way golfers thought about irons," said Dan Stone, Vice President, Research and Development, Titleist Golf Clubs. "AP technology opened up a host of new possibilities in which design aesthetics and performance no longer had to be mutually exclusive propositions. That original technology paved the way for the new advances that we've made with the new 712 line."

Clubs have a great profile when u set up behind the ball. Great feeling of ball compressing on club face. Thin shots are much better and sweet spot is huge. A little expensive compared to all other brands but worth it.
superb golf club

Just picked up a set of the AP2s and took them to the course. They are absolutely amazing. I had played titleist years ago and then switched to the taylormade R7s. My score slowly went up from a 7 handicap to around 14. After swinging these clubs for one day I can already tell my handicap will be lowering. The quarter, half and three quarter swings feel great for those 80 yard and shorter shots. The iron looks like a tour iron but has a sweetspot bigger than the game improvement clubs

No words can explain these clubs, they are just Awesome. I went from Ping G15's to the AP2's and cut 15 strokes easily. I just started playing again after 20 years bought the pings because they were supposed to improve my game, that was untrue. Bought the Titleist driver, woods and hybrid. I am driving the ball a mile, Good Job Titleist.

These irons are fantastic. I went to get fit and tried all the Titleist irons- but none could match these for my 10 handicap. The clubs are perfect as they are a slight game improvement club, and a great players club as a girl at my club, a 140 slope who averages 3 under par per round plays them. They are great for shot shaping and launch the ball on a nice high penetrating trajectory. Nothing tops these irons, a must get if below 20 handicap and looking for new irons
Wonderful feel and balanced weight

I absolutely love these irons and upgraded to the 712 from the original AP2 set. There are a couple changes made and they are noticed on the course with every shot. I still think they are priced just too high. They are the best iron out there bar none and have all the feel of a blade to boot, but they are just pricing it that high because they can. I would like to see these at a lower price. Same as the older AP2's retailed for as well as MB and CB.
